Mauritius fund Soach Global eyes 25x returns from NSE IPO stake

Mauritius-based Soach Global stands to realize approximately 25 times returns on its decade-long investment in the National Stock Exchange through the upcoming IPO, with its total 82.5 lakh shares valued at up to Rs 1,472 crore at the indicated price band. The fund plans to sell 16.5 lakh shares while maintaining 66 lakh shares as a long-term holding.

Soach Global, a Mauritius-based investment fund, is positioned to achieve substantial returns from its long-standing stake in the National Stock Exchange of India ahead of the exchange's public offering. According to the announcement, the fund's 82.5 lakh shares are valued at approximately Rs 1,472 crore based on the IPO price band, representing a roughly 25-fold return on its investment accumulated over the past decade. The fund intends to partially monetize its position by selling 16.5 lakh shares through the IPO process, while strategically retaining 66 lakh shares to maintain exposure to the exchange as a long-term investment. This approach balances the opportunity to realize significant gains while preserving substantial ownership in the NSE.

The NSE IPO represents a significant milestone for India's capital markets infrastructure and offers important insights into investor appetite for exchange operator equities. Institutional investors such as Soach Global typically seek dual objectives through such offerings: crystallizing returns from early-stage stakes while maintaining conviction in the asset's future growth potential. The retention of approximately 80 percent of its shareholding suggests confidence in NSE's long-term value creation prospects. For broader market participants, NSE's public listing could influence trading dynamics, regulatory expectations for exchange operators, and investor sentiment toward financial infrastructure plays. The successful execution of this IPO may also set benchmarks for valuation multiples applied to similar exchange and financial infrastructure assets in emerging markets.
